Chinese New Year 2008 - Part 4

Here are more pictures from the steamboat which we had on Tuesday.
A pic of the table before and during. You'll notice there are 2 pots (a small pot sitting on a porta gas stove) and a larger electric one. Due to her prawn allergy, Hazel had her own personal steamboat as we didn't want to poach prawns in her soup stock, and Mum also made her wanton without prawns.
Before we started the meal, we all had A LOT of wantons which were cooked by Mum in the kitchen - they are quite delicious; made and marinated by Mum. In fact I'm still craving for them now and will convince her to make another batch soon.
With the food table just beside me, so I ended up popping up and down all night, adding more of these delicious stuff into the simmering soup. Not in picture (2 other types of vegetables & tofu).
The prawns were really crunchy fresh and the squid was gently swirled in the soup till they were just cooked - top with lots of sauces.

Here's the helper pouring more stock into the pot, and PT throwing all caution to the wind by eating from a serving bowl. We ended the meal by eating lots of vegetables and drinking the lovely soup.

And chocs and oranges. Chinese New Year is well and truly upon us.
We were all pleasantly and 'lightly' full after this meal and extremely satisfied. I'm glad we did not go overboard with eggs, noodles, beef slices and others. What we had was just simply perfect.
