With 3 kids and fil in tow, we set off to Sunway Lagoon shortly after lunch. As it was Msian school hols as well, the place was packed to the brim.
I thought I could pop next door to shop for a few hours but wrong, they had a 'no return' policy so what choice did I have but to park myself on a bar stool and have a beer. First one with fil. Shortly after, he wandered off for a snooze on a deckchair.
Several hours later, with the children appearing asking for food or drink intermittently; same spot, different beer.
You know you are really really bored when you start taking photos of your feet.
The skies opened at around 5 pm and mid-way back to the apartment, traffic jams and floods greeted us. We all said our silent prayers as we crossed this perilous flooded road with rushing muddy waters.
The restaurant is minimalism to an extreme with no decor in sight. Bare white walls and naked tables, very high ceiling, silk drapes. The minimalist approach extends to the food too, with hardly any garnish on some of the dishes.
The menu.
As we had turkey the day before, tonight's dinner was a set menu with 2 choices of starters & 3 choices of mains, with no turkey in sight (relief).
The Starters. The Main Courses.
The kiddie meal - roast spring chicken. Later served with gravy and vegetables. Dessert
Last few days of the hols left.... Here's what I cooked for breakfast/lunch for everyone today. Self-explanatory, I've put up the recipe once or twice. Yummy... Frying the prawns separately in minced dried prawns, garlic & shallots. Frying the meehoon with same as above. Adding cooked prawns/fish cake/cilantro/eggs/salt & white pepper. Serve with light soya, cut chillies and lime juice.
Took all 4 kids to an indoor theme park today and spent the entire day with them, watching them being spun around and around, again and again, waiting for rides, eating at McDs, getting tattoos, dancing, playing sensible 'shooting' games involving guns, loo breaks, and Starbucks before we went home.
Children - happy and exhausted. Me - exhausted and exhausted.
On Christmas Eve, we went to the Mandarin Oriental again for their dinner buffet at their Biba's Cafe. The Oysters Rockefeller were delicious - they were so fresh - I think I must have had 6 of these super fattening babies. Literally miles or kms of food ranging from Western, Asian, Japanese, Italian and more.
It was the first time in almost a month that I could eat properly and my legendary appetite made a spectacular comeback. Even mil who noticed that I had lost weight was amazed to see me eat with such gusto.
Had several glasses of wine with, and mulled wine (achingly sweet and spicy) after my dinner.
Some of the starters.
The mains.
The sweets.
After dinner, we had coffee at Pacifica and listened to some Christmas jazz. We had our little Christmas countdown at midnight, and shortly after strolled back to our apartment.
And here's what happened next!
Magaritas, loud music and dancing. We stayed till 2 am.
The last time my kids will pose with me in a club/bar/disco or whatever they call it nowadays!
