Day 7 - Overseas Restaurant - 27th Dec 2007

A very well-known Chinese restaurant in KL;
I think everyone knows this place and if you google it, you will find numerous food blogs raving about their food. I LOVE their food and was there twice this trip. After we said goodbye to everyone who were all on earlier flights than us, we went for lunch before leaving for the airport ourselves.
We had some complimentary watercress soup to start.
A plate of roast meat & duck. Sweet roasted meats gooey with sugar, tender and succulent.
Some vegetables cooked in light stock and dried prawns.
That gorgeous steamed fish.
And one of their signature dishes - belly pork cooked with dried chillies and salted fish served flaming hot in a claypot.

Mark had 2.5 bowls of rice and mopped up every bit of the fish soy sauce.
And I hand-carried back 1.5 kgs of roast meats so Wm and P can have some too.

Handbagzz

So like them?

p.s This is not a handbag blog.

Doughnuts

Yes, they are, M. My kids liked them but I didn't eat any.

Day 2 - 22nd December 2007

On our second night in KL, we dined at this restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental. We had a delicious assortment of starters which I will post later but my main course was absolutely gorgeous - Miso Cod. Very fresh; the miso did not mask the natural sweet taste of cod and it was grilled to true perfection with slight charred edges.
Washed down with several timbles of warm sake.
Tender beef.
Several plates of this - yellowtail, tuna and salmon sashimi.
Not had this before but it's crabmeat with a cheese sauce, very delicious as well.
This was another winner - baked scallops with rice and a similar cheese sauce to the above.
Mark had this grilled mackerel and Hazel had chicken teriyaki but she was sitting too far down from me and I couldn't take a pic of her main course.

Taken from my end of the table.

Day 6 - Handbags - 26th Dec 2007

Happy Christmas to all and to me too!

Very happy Christmas.

Taken outside that shop at KLCC on Boxing Day. We also covered Gucci, LV, Hermes, Ferragamo that hour - with Mark carrying my bags.

And here's something for the foodies too - a melt in your mouth piece of Wagyu Beef with vegs, mashed potato and truffles served with cognac sauce.... had a few glasses of cab sav with this.
Bulimic - how about this?
And we had this lovely steamed soon hock fish at Overseas Restaurant before we went on the flight this afternoon.
More to come...... but in the meantime, I shall now take a shower and then open the black box, with the white ribbon tied around it....

Thurs, 20th Dec 2007

Tonight we celebrated the Chinese festival of dongzhi.
We had another simple meal of chicken rice (made from corn fed free range chicken), ginger sauce, satay, 2 types of vegetables and a melon and mushroom soup.
Ginger/spring onion sauce - so yummy over plain steamed chicken.

For dessert we had red bean with tangyuan which we bought frozen from the supermarket. It had a sweet black sesame filling which I like. Some wine too and lots of conversation.

We've put up the tree and here it is - Season's Greetings to all - I will be away for a few days but will be back just on time for our annual New Year's Eve BBQ. More of last year's BBQ here.

Tues, 18th Dec 2007

Not the cleverest thing to do - had my left ear pierced today - 3 days before going away! But the man in the shop promised to help me remove the temporary blue stud and replace it with my usual earring on Friday. Ouch! Ouch...............
